Vaucluse Blocked Stormwater, Done Properly

1000+ five-star reviews

Steep blocks on the peninsula send a lot of water somewhere fast when it rains, and stormwater lines built for gentler flows can struggle to keep up.

We clear the pits, gullies and underground lines that carry it away, and you approve the price before we start.

Call (02) 9139 8009 for a free on-site quote, and if the same spot keeps flooding, our CCTV drain inspection will show you why.

Blocked Stormwater: What We Actually Do

Stormwater is rainwater, not sewage, and it runs through a different set of pipes, pits and gullies to your sewer line.

We clear and repair all of it:

  • Pit and gully clearing where leaves, silt and debris have built up and stopped water draining away
  • Ag line clearing for the perforated pipes that carry groundwater away from footings and retaining walls
  • Downpipe-to-drain connections where a blocked junction sends water back up instead of out
  • Root intrusion removal from stormwater lines running near established trees
  • Surcharging pit repairs where a pit overflows onto paths or driveways during heavy rain

Roof plumbing itself is a roofing job, but we clear the drain side of the system every time.

Why Vaucluse Properties Call For This

Vaucluse sits on a steep peninsula, with clifftop and hillside blocks rising toward 76 metres in places.

That gradient means stormwater runs fast once it starts, and debris and silt wash down into the lower drainage lines on the way, causing blockages at the bottom of a slope rather than the top.

Properties along New South Head Road often sit on this kind of falling ground, where a pit at the low end of the block copes with runoff from everything above it.

Fast fall is good for keeping water moving, but only if the line at the bottom can actually take what arrives.

What Your Blocked Stormwater Quote Depends On

Several things shape a stormwater quote, and we walk you through all of them on-site before pricing anything.

  • How much silt, leaves or root growth has built up in the line
  • Whether the blocked pit or gully sits low on a steep run or on flatter ground
  • How deep and how far the affected section runs
  • Access, whether it is a surface pit or a line under paving
  • Whether one pit is affected or the whole stormwater system needs attention

On steeply falling blocks, a jetter run at the bottom of the slope sometimes has to clear more accumulated debris than the same job on flat ground, which can add time to the clean.

You get a free on-site quote and a fixed price before anything starts. No call-out fee, and a 10% seniors discount on top.

How We Clear a Blocked Stormwater Job Properly

Locate the blockage. We check pits, gullies and downpipe junctions to find where water is actually backing up, using a camera where the cause is not obvious from the surface.

Clear it properly. High-pressure jetting shifts silt, leaves and root growth from the pipe wall, not just punch a hole through the middle of the blockage.

Confirm the fix. The camera goes back in afterwards, proving the whole run is flowing, not just the section in front of us.

Warranty backed. Every job carries a lifetime labour warranty. If it's not right, we come back. No questions. No cost.

Whose Drain Is It, and What NSW Requires

Stormwater work on private property has to be carried out by a licensed plumber in NSW, the same as any other drainage job.

Everything on your own block, from surface pits down to the ag lines around your footings, is your responsibility to maintain, while kerbside drains and the street stormwater network belong to council.

If water is surcharging from a kerb inlet or a street grate rather than from your own pits, that is usually a council asset, not a private repair.

We check the pit's location before quoting, so you know upfront whether it is ours to fix or council's.

The Difference on a Blocked Stormwater Job

Steep blocks need someone who understands how fast water moves on them, not a generic clear-and-go.

Between them, the team has clocked up 35-plus years in the trade, and every job is done under NSW plumbing licence #275278C.

That licence covers the drainage compliance side properly, and the experience means we read a sloping block correctly the first time.

Servicing Vaucluse and the Suburbs Around It

Steep peninsula blocks like these keep our stormwater team busy across Vaucluse most weeks, especially once the rain sets in.

We cover Vaucluse and the surrounding Woollahra area, including Rose Bay, Dover Heights, Bellevue Hill, Double Bay and Bondi, at the same fixed-price model.

If it is a sewage smell rather than rainwater causing the trouble, that is a different system entirely. Our blocked sewer page explains the difference.

Common questions

Vaucluse Blocked Stormwater FAQs

The questions we get asked most often about stormwater work on the peninsula.

Do you provide evidence the drain is actually clear?

Yes. A camera pass through the line once it's cleared shows the stormwater path flowing freely, on screen, before we pack up.

Do you handle strata or commercial blocked stormwater in Vaucluse?

Yes. Strata blocks and larger properties often have shared stormwater lines feeding several units, and we clear and inspect these the same way we do a single house, with a fixed price agreed before work starts.

What kind of equipment clears a blocked stormwater line?

Mostly high-pressure jetting to clear silt, leaves and root intrusion from pits, gullies and ag lines, backed by a camera to confirm the line is genuinely clear afterwards rather than just flowing for the moment.

Why does my drain keep blocking after other plumbers clear it?

A clear-out without a camera check often misses the actual cause, whether that is a root that was cut but not removed, a collapsed section, or a grade problem sending debris straight back down. We check what caused it, not just clear the symptom.

What should I do before you arrive?

Point out any pits, gullies or downpipes that have been overflowing, and clear access to them if garden growth or furniture is in the way. Knowing which parts of the yard pond first after rain helps us find the blockage faster.

Can I try to clear it myself first?

Clearing leaves and debris out of a surface grate is safe to do yourself. Anything below the grate, in the pipe itself, is best left to a plumber, since pushing a hose or rod in blind can push debris further down the line.
